Cinque terre hiking

Our two-day journey gently winds through this extraordinary cliff, passing charming villages overlooking the blue Ligurian sea, and beyond, the green terraced hills filled with Lemon Trees and Vineyards that sparkle with intense colors. Together, we'll cook the famous Pesto made with fragrant basil and Ligurian olive oil focaccia, the two pillars of the Cinque Terre cuisine. Day 1

Day 2

We will depart early in the morning by train from your departure city (Bologna, Modena, Reggio Emilia, or Parma). During the trip, we’ll make two quick stops for a cappuccino or coffee and a restroom break in Parma and La Spezia.

We expect to arrive in Corniglia around 10:40 AM. After dropping off our luggage at the accommodation, we’ll begin our first hike along the wonderful trail that leads to Vernazza. We will walk through the terraced hills overlooking the blue Ligurian Sea, surrounded by vineyards and lemon trees.

Along the way, we’ll stop at a local winery to discover the secrets behind their wine and enjoy a tasting paired with spectacular ocean views.

We will then continue our hike to Vernazza where, upon arrival, we can cool down with a delicious gelato and explore the ancient seaside village. Lunch will be on your own at one of the local restaurants or food shops, where you can get your first taste of Ligurian cuisine—from the famous trofie or trenette with pesto to warm focaccia, farinata, and anchovies prepared every way imaginable (marinated in lemon, fried, salted, or stuffed).

Around 5:00 PM, we will board a boat from the Vernazza marina to admire the Cinque Terre from the water as sunset approaches. We’ll stop at the best vantage points to take photos from the boat while enjoying a happy hour with local Cinque Terre white wine and Ligurian focaccia.

The boat will drop us off in Riomaggiore, where you will have some free time to wander through the village streets before taking the local train back to our accommodation in Corniglia.

The evening will be yours to enjoy, with free time for dinner at one of the village restaurants specializing in fresh seafood and other local dishes.

In the morning, we’ll enjoy a rich gourmet breakfast on the stunning ocean-view terrace of our B&B, featuring warm, freshly baked croissants and other delicious local foods prepared on the spot by the chef. After checking out, we’ll leave our bags at the B&B and start our hike toward Manarola along what I consider the most beautiful scenic trail in the Cinque Terre. We will head up through the terraced hills, passing by vineyards and typical Ligurian vegetation, until we reach the charming hilltop village of Volastra. Here, we can refresh ourselves with cold water from the fountain and stop by the village’s small shop, which sells local specialties perfect for a quick snack.
